We have done nothing particularly innovative in minimizing energy use during cooking.

Although not ideal we will be using a propane range with no electrical components. An electric oven is simply out of the question for a solar house. We initially  felt that a microwave was unnecessary but microwave technology is highly efficient, and we may yet consider installing one.

One feature we do hope to take advantage of is the bake-oven built-in to the masonry heater. Obviously during the winter, the use of the bake-oven is a great way to piggyback on space heat energy.

In addition at some time in the future we would like to experiment with a solar cooker and install an outdoor (Quebec traditional) bake-oven.
